Get to Know Us
KISRA is a West Virginia nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families thrive through programs that promote health, education, financial stability, and healing. Founded in 1993 at Ferguson Memorial Baptist Church, KISRA has served communities across the state for more than 30 years. Our work includes empowering parents, strengthening families, and providing trauma-informed support for youth, adults, and individuals transitioning from incarceration, foster care, homelessness, and other life challenges.
We are committed to generational change—one family, one community at a time.

Our
Story

Our story is woven from the lives of West Virginians — from every family striving, every child growing, and every neighbor hoping for a better tomorrow. At KISRA, we believe every person deserves the chance to thrive, and every day our staff and volunteers work to make that possible.
When you walk through our doors or meet us in the community, you’ll find places where children feel safe and supported, where young people discover their potential, and where teens receive guidance during their most defining moments. You’ll see fathers learning to lead with love, individuals gaining the skills and confidence to build meaningful careers, and men and women returning from incarceration finding a path home with dignity and support.
We do this work because people matter — their stories, their families, their futures. And at KISRA, we stand with them every step of the way.
